Dear Sir, dear Madame,
Humanity has always advanced by crossing thresholds: the fifteenth century with the press and the age of exploration; the twentieth with mass media, psychology, and the internet. Today we stand at another decisive threshold. Some speak of future civilizations mastering unimaginable energies at the Planck scale, but a nearer, more urgent horizon is already within our grasp: the harnessing of the Energy of the Self.
The twenty-first century will not be defined only by artificial intelligence as a tool of automation, but by the birth of Human Open Intelligence — the ability of societies to cultivate awareness, imagination, and civic wisdom at scale. To catalyze this, we propose two pillars:
Augmented Paideia — a renewed model of education, integrating classical depth with modern tools. Imagine AI not as a tutor of rote knowledge but as a Socratic partner in critical thinking, emotional literacy, and creative expression.
Augmented Pnyx — digital commons modeled on the ancient Athenian assembly, where citizens deliberate with transparency, fairness, and dignity. Here, AI strengthens democracy rather than undermining it, amplifying reason over manipulation.
Together, these pillars can move us beyond ego-driven bias and fractured public discourse toward a civilization that is more self-aware, more creative, and more capable of meeting global challenges.
The technologies are already here. The question is whether we use them merely to optimize consumption, or whether we dare to build a culture that expands human wholeness. With vision and courage, we can shape an era where intelligence — inner and collective — becomes the true energy we harness.
I urge you to consider how your leadership can support initiatives in augmented education, civic platforms, and ethical AI. History shows that civilizations thrive when they dare to reimagine themselves. This is our moment.
With respect and anticipation,
Athanasios Triantafyllou
